A Residential Wine Cellar with a Tasting Room Built in an Office Space

A Wine Room Designed by a Master Builder of Residential Wine Cellars

The client in this residential wine cellar project sought the help of Wine Cellar Specialists in transforming an office space into a personalized wine storage space. Before starting the construction process, the team made a thorough assessment to ensure that all of the client’s needs were provided. This step is vital in determining the perfect design for every residential wine cellar.

Features of the Wine Racks

The top section of the sidewalls consists of an arch opening with a tabletop. There are horizontal bins for large format bottles above it and surrounded by single bottle storage racks. There is a display row on both sides of the opening intended for storing the bottles at a 15-degree angle.

The team also added double-deep solid diamond bins at the bottom section and a display row in the middle of all the walls. The left and right walls have a mirror racking consisting of individual wine racks and diamond bins.

Redwood Wine Racks: Ideal for Creating Traditional Residential Wine Cellar Designs

Using suitable material for the wine racks is essential to achieving the mood and ambiance that the owners want in their wine room. Wood is a favorite material because it goes well with any existing décor, and it adds warmth and timeless appeal to a space.

In this residential wine cellar project, Wine Cellar Specialists utilized unfinished All-Heart Redwood. This wood species is grown in cold and humid areas, making Redwood wine racks ideal for highly humid environments like refrigerated wine cellars. Its natural preservatives make it highly resistant to mold, mildew, and shrinkage. It does not need to be stained for added durability.

Wine Cellar Rolling Ladder

Wine Cellar Specialists added a rolling ladder to the residential wine cellar design. A bent-style ladder was used so it could bend over the double-deep racking at the bottom section. This feature allows the owners to easily access the wines located beyond reach.

Wine Tasting Room

Before reaching the entrance door to the wine cellar, visitors will pass by the wine tasting room, where the walls and ceiling are made of Stonecoat material. The wooden home bar is made from Knotty Alder applied with Chapel stain and lacquer.

The design included glass racks and open shelves on the left and right sides. There is a lighted cabinet with a glass front door. A built-in refrigerator and two drawers were installed at the center of the bottom section.

Residential Wine Cellar with a Wine Bar Area

In one of the residential wine cellar designs created by Wine Cellar Specialists, a bar area is located in front of the wine cellar. They added personal touches from the homeowners to create a distinctive design.

Wine Rack Features

The wine rack design for this project consists of a lattice arch with a tabletop placed at the center of the racking on the back wall. Other racking styles used were individual wine racks, lattice diamond bins, high-reveal display rows, and lattice case storage bins.

Wine Cellar Specialists utilized Sapele Mahogany for the wine racks. Its reddish-brown color that darkens with age if not treated with finishing oils helped achieve a rustic look. It is one of the most sought-after types of wood in manufacturing wine racks and cabinetry because of its characteristics. Sapele Mahogany has beautiful grain patterns, and excellent durability and works well with stains and finishes.

The Wine Bar

The wine bar in this rustic home wine cellar was a great addition to the client’s home. Located just outside the wine cellar, it provides an excellent place for sipping wine with friends. Wine Cellar Specialists added a double-door cabinet on both sides of the entryway with a hanging stemware rack for storing the wine glasses.
